Local document server works in regular settings but not advanced.

I installed the community document server and it set up fine for working in my local network, but I couldn't reach the Only Office server from outside my local network. I put my public address in the main address section of the Only Office app and copied/pasted the local address to the advanced section. It works outside my network now, but when I try to open a file on my local network it acts like it is going to load the app but in the bottom left corner the message keeps switching between "Looking for ..." and "Connecting...." Is there some setting I am missing?

New angle to this: I noticed that the end of the URL separates the words in the file name by %F2 or something like that, but when the internal server path is used the URL just leaves spaces between the words of the file name. But I've tried with single word file names (no spaces) and it still won't open the editor. Don't know if that is related.
