[Bug]: Desktop Clients don't show existing share links

Bug description

All users have been shared a folder to collaborate.

Using the desktop app on Windows or macOS, I create an external link to share a file that lies within said folder. After closing the share dialogue, I go back to it. The "copy link" icon is gone and the existing link is not shown. The link works though.

I go to the web interface where I can see the link. I open the Android app where I can see it, too.

To clearify: This happens ONLY in folders that I am not the owner of (that are shared with me). For all shares created in ones own folders, it work.

Has been an issue at least since April 2025.

Same issue with Internal Share with Other users on this Nextcloud Server (without Federation).

Same issue with the newest Windows client 4.0.1. When will this be repaired? I cannot change my Nextcloud structure so easy. All files are shared by the Admin in my cloud.

Does anybody know with which version this bug came into Nextcloud?

AFAIK it has been around as long as I've used the Nextcloud client (a couple years)

Definitely not. It came in 2025. Sometimes I think the real creator of Nextcloud is Microsoft, and they offer it as an argument against FOSS, and for having something to laugh about :-(

I also do not understand why this is on "Prio: normal". Cloud installations have grown over years and suddenly the intended users cannot edit or even see their shares anymore.

Very fast reaction to criticism, ok.

I found the probably last version where this bug does not occur, even not under Windows 11: Desktop client version 3.4.1 64bit. Perhaps this information helps to move forward.

So it really seems to be older. I found out only this year because updates of Windows client are rare here.
