Is there a chance that you could be running a daily build? Could you check in the desktop client settings? There has been bug reports related to update channel misbehaving.
what issue the user agent is causing for you ? I fail to understand why the change (not to say it is intended and we do not plan to change it) would cause issues ?

I have been told some users/admins like to be able to block requests from specific user agents (i.e. to stop users from using old or specific versions of the client)
I imagine for them, having "correct" user agents is important
