Needing to Mass update Contact data
Describe the bug
There seems to be an issue where you cannot email from Contact Groups using the Send Mail or Send Mail as BCC if the contacts were imported and show up without Home, Work, or Other as the email address type. It would appear other options such as a NULL or INTERNET are showing up for imported Contact Email Address Types. If this happens, it will not pull any addresses from the Group when the feature opens the Compose Email window.
I'm wanting to see if there is a way to mass update the Contact Email Address Types. Unfortunately it is tricky since the data is stored in a Blob format.
I would be great if the email part of Contacts had a more strict Data Type in the table. I am also seeking the Email Apps developers if they could make an exception to what types come over in case that is also affecting the result. However a means to bulk update these contacts would be invaluable to help maintain clean data records.
Steps to reproduce
- In Contacts, you have to import files that create an Email Type besides the built in option. Or edit a contact so that the email type is something more random.
- Place the Contacts to test in a group together
- Click on '....' next to the group name and select Send Email
- The Compose Mail window should open but the affected recipients should not show up in the To field. In some tests, the field is totally blank and none of the selected emails populate.
Expected behavior
All valid email addresses within the contact group should be listed in the email To field.
Actual behavior
Either mislabeled email addresses do not show up in the email, or in some cases, none of the email addresses in the group are populated in the To field.
