the contacts group cannot be created and add users
Describe the bug
The window for adding users to a contacts group does not display any user search results.After the page is refreshed, the contact group disappears.
Steps to reproduce
- Go to 'contacts group page'
- Click on 'add contacts group icon'
- create a contacts group
- add members for this contacts group
- See the bug(cannot add members)
- refresh the page
- See the bug(contacts group disappears)
Expected behavior
the window for adding users show the userlist correctly
Actual behavior
the window for adding users doesn't show the userlist correctly

I also encounter this with new installation of Hub V (25.0.2) without configuring OPcache or memcache...
Ubuntu 22.04, MariaDB, PHP8.1, Apache2, browser is Brave
Confirming on Contacts 5.4.2 at Nextcloud 27.1.3.
Same here for Nextcloud 27.1.3 and lastest version of Contacts 5.5.3

Come on, this issue was opened almost one year ago and since then 6 people are reporting they're also impacted, but it's still "needing triage", so what can be done from us to help resolve it?
I'm not able to reproduce this.
Can one of you provide a screenshot for steps 4/5 or a video walk run thru?
The closest I get is that sometimes the "Create a new contact group" pop-up will stay open, but that doesn't prevent me from clicking the 3-dot menu next to the newly created group and selecting "Add contact" in any way.

This is interesting (not all instances). When it happens, please check the browser console + browser console network tab.

The thing that I finally understood is Contacts Groups are for non NC user accounts. Without an explicit documentation, that's something not so obvious. However if a documentation related to Contacts Groups I did not find exists, thanks for sharing the URL.
So, you just can add external contacts only to a group, otherwise the Search Contacts popup shall remain empty:
