The problem

the current homepage of a collective is a confusing mixture of widgets and a free form page. Both the informative widgets and the homepage are useful in their own regard, but having them in the same place create confusion

Possible solutions

• Rename the current home page into "collective overview" and remove the free-form editing from it
• Add a homepage selector to the collective overview or to the settings. E.g:

Separating the overview from the free-form page would allow us to add more useful widgets to it. For example: - A way to browse collective files - More recent items, including recently edited files - A favorites bar - Recent mentions or comments

@marcoambrosini I just had a look at the collective I use most frequently - the "Nextcloud Handbook" in the company instance.

I have to say I really like the current state. The member list gives the page a personal touch - this is about people and collaboration. The recent pages show me there's some activity - even though I find the scope of the collective too big for this to be actually useful. And the intro text briefly explains what this is about. It could be longer - then I could read more by scrolling.

I can see how the edit button and the text related things on the top right are confusing - but other than that... could you elaborate what confusion people might run into?

I think it is an interesting concept and might be very useful for users to help them work around the different apps shared with the groups.

Could I highlight that this description looks a lot like the page of the group in the Circles app.

I believe no-one of the group will ever go to the Circles app to find some things.

I did suggest an activity log for each Collective #1185 which I think could be an alternative option It would help if there was on the collective group an overview of where the current activity is taking place.

Is it in the group chat ? Is it on a file of the group ? As the calendar of the group recently modified ? As a new file being created ? Is a user currently modifying a file ? As a deck card recently modified ?

Etc.

With the same approach on widget, we could easily track the latest changes of the activity of the group.

Basically that + the concern about not being able to add further widgets to this overview because it "pushes down" the homepage.
