Icons messed up on the dekstop
On Windows, my icons for the folders which are synchronised have been modified. It's as if there are 2 icons, the standard one, hidden by a generic file icon.
In the screenshot, the top icons are folders.

Mmm they appear here on my windows10 VM. There is some strange artificial limit of icons on windows. so maybe we hit that for some dark twister reason.
To clarify, they appeared just fine at the beginning, but have now disappeared all the sudden. Maybe there is some recursive function which is doing stuff with icons until the limit is hit?
And of course if I stop the client, icons come back. It's just the overlay which can't be displayed properly.
Are you running Nc and oC client at the same time? Is the problem reproducible if only one of them runs?
oC client was removed. A restart fixed it. I'm waiting to see if it will come back.
This happens on my Windows 7 host too. I had owncloud client installed, installed nextcloud, all was fine, then uninstalled owncloud and the icon overlays became the "not found" type of icon. I reinstalled nextcloud and the icons are still broken. Like this:

When I stop nextcloud client, they return to normal:

I don't have the problem of disappearing icons. In my case it just shows the normal windows icons but no nextcloud specific activity like before with owncloud like synced,syncing,error... I'm on Windows 10, nextcloud client 2.2.3 build 4, nextcloud server 10
I have the same problem with Windows 10 and Nextcloud 2.2.3.4 Win Client.
If i stop the NC Client all icons are ok.

I had the same "missing icon" issue after uninstalling owncloud client. Reboot solved this, but for now, no more overlay sync status icons :(
Ok, if anyone has the "no overlay issue", you can try this using an windows admin command prompt :
regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Nextcloud\shellext\OCOverlays_x64.dll"
and restart your computer
It seems like the client is not registering the dl
@pfoo
Works perfect. Thanks!!!
Edit: After a few weeks icons are disappearing and don't come after reregistering the dll.
Maybe it has something to do with icon overlay in general?

A configurable option to just turn it off in the first place would be nice.
Is this still an issue? Otherwise please close. Thanks!
This issue has been inactive for some time now.
Is this issue related to the ownCloud client, (thus not an theming isssue) please close it and report the issue here instead. Is this issue related to this repo but solved, please close it and if possible let us know what solved the issue. Is this issue still not solved, please let us know as well.
If I don't hear anything from the one who created this issue within 2 weeks, I will close the issue.
Ping @oparoz
Still a problem on 2.3.1. It now went as far as completely disappearing.
