Use the ESC key to close a calendar item

Open armaccloud opened this issue 5 years ago • 4 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. In the previous calendar, I always used the keyboard to ESC out of the editor screen for a calendar item. This functionality disappeared.

Describe the solution you'd like When having a calendar item open, have the ability to use the ESC button on the keyboard to close it (saving the information it had on the screen).

@georgehrke @ChristophWurst Is there any chance this change can be implemented at some point? I see the milestone is moved forward each time while I don't see any unfulfilled dependencies for this change to occur./

Reason to implement this on the short-term, from my view;

  • This used to be functionality, which is now removed
  • The functionality speeds up the workflow for people using their keyboard
  • It seems like an easy to implement, as the code must still exist from when it worked before
  • It is in line with the functionality of keyboard shortcuts (an informational button for keyboard shortcuts has been placed in the calendar settings)

In this repo milestones have no meaning (yet), we have to clean them up: https://github.com/nextcloud/groupware/issues/9

It seems like an easy to implement, as the code must still exist from when it worked before

Do you know someone who can code and has time to contribute this easy change?

Ah, I was wondering how these milestones kept changing :) I wish that I knew someone, otherwise I would have asked them. Link: #157

This feature does not work with the simplified editor in current versions. I tested with Nextcloud 30.0.6 and Calendar 5.1.0 and it is not working, when using the simplified editor, as long as focus is on any input field in the modal. And the focus is set to the "Event title" field when opening the modal, so ESC is not working, unless clicking at the modal outside of any input field first.

With the sidebar editor, it works, no matter if focus is on any input field.

bentuna's Issue still persisting on nextcloud 31.0.9 & calendar 5.5.5 (firefox and chromium).

Closing this as this is now implemented

Nope, I can still reproduce this on latest main and c.nc.c.

FYI @bentuna I created a new issue here: https://github.com/nextcloud/calendar/issues/7601

@SebastianKrupinski @st3iny can you just reopen this ticket? There are upvotes on this ticket. We'd lose that with the new one.

@ChristophWurst This ticket is about the initial feature developed years ago. Now, there is a regression due to changes in @nextcloud/vue I suppose. (See how the ticket was reopened after years.). Hence, I'd prefer to track the regression in a new ticket.

Makes sense
