Restore Points of Instance Type "external:" Has No Validation Process

Open jxmx opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

After working on #177 and trying to debug #166, I've discovered that the logic inside of PointService.php in the function getRPFromInstances does not implement the proper checks for an instance type of external:NN and also looks like ExternalFolderService.php doesn't have comparable verifyPoint() function to execute the checks. It also appears to lack logic to create the signature?

This leaves the archives unvalidated and marked as invalid when their status is really unknown.

Hello, I use the backup app to store my backups on Storj (external storage). Has progress been made to fix this 'cannot confirm integrity' issue? Otherwise, is there another way, for the time being, to check the integrity of a backup sent to an external storage like Storj? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I'm trying to use the Backup application to upload restore points to a remote Nextcloud. I see these red dots with "Cannot confirm integrity" regarding remote backups (local backups are OK). How can we use the Backup remote feature in the meantime ? Or can we trust these remote backups anyway ? Thanks a lot.

I suppose there isn't a fix for this yet?
