Improved two-way / bidirectional synchronization of notes with third-party applications on Android
Hello dear developers (of one of my favorite applications!),
I have a suggestion regarding note synchronization. Perhaps this request has already been discussed, but I couldn't find a specific reference to it in the thread.
My experience
I'm experiencing a persistent problem with Nextcloud's bidirectional synchronization of notes on Android, using third-party note-taking apps such as Quillpad, Notepad, Logseq... Although I can view and create new notes on the Nextcloud server, any subsequent changes to these notes are not synchronized on Android. This problem is systematic and considerably limits my use of the application, as I can't go back and forth between my phone and my computer to work on my notes.
My proposed solution
I'd like to see a solution that enables full bidirectional synchronization with third-party and open source note-taking applications. These applications offer advanced features such as advanced markdown, export in different formats, graphics, etc., that I don't expect from the Nextcloud application directly.
An alternative in Nextcloud?
If full bi-directional synchronization isn't possible, an alternative would be to improve Nextcloud's Notes application so that it's as powerful and practical as Quillpad for writing. With a clear and practical notes filing system (as in logseq, for example).
Interesting to know
This synchronization limitation has persisted for several years and affects me considerably as I rely heavily on my notes. Bi-directional synchronization seems to me to be a basic feature and I don't understand why it is limited in third-party applications, especially when these can easily synchronize with services such as OneDrive, Google Drive or Dropbox.
Is there a technical reason why open source applications can't synchronize with each other?
Best regards
