Identify the Roles of AboutCode users
We need to develop a list of the Roles of the various kinds of users who are interested in AboutCode so that we can address their information needs more efficiently. These Roles would provide any or all of these attributes:
- Role name
- Job title
- student or professional
- technical or not-so-technical
- management or otherwise
- Interested in license compliance?
- Interested in cybersecurity?
- level of experience in these domains?
- other objectives?
Perhaps we can use our Slack #general channel to initiate a polling process? I am personally not sure how to go about doing that but there are lots of Slack users that we really don't know very much about.
Perhaps we can use the Slack Tool "Google Sheets feedback log" to act on this.
Miroslav Damyanov is researching LiberaForms and Slack plug-ins to create the proposed user survey.
Hey @DennisClark , I’d love to help out with this. Maybe we could start by putting together a simple list of user roles and what info we might want for each. Once we have a draft, we could share it in the Slack #general channel to see what people think. I’m happy to help create the draft or figure out a way to collect feedback—whatever’s most useful.
Hope your doing well @DennisClark
In our previous organization @Eximpe, we use slack for all technical communications, most of our customers were developers and corporate users. Understanding their roles and goals was key to providing for right support and features.
It would be helpful to clarify what is the main goal of building this Roles list?
we can frame the poll like this:
Role name / Job title Student or professional Technical or non-technical Management responsibilities Interest in license compliance Interest in cybersecurity Experience level in these domains
This can help us to find patterns, build for our customers , find there roots
For the Slack tool, we can automate Google Sheets and interact directly with users, which could be very helpful. Please let me know if I can contribute
