What version of Round Sync are you using (About -> App version)?

What is your Android version, phone model and manufacturer?

Android 13, fairphone4

Which steps are required to reproduce this issue?

Example:

1. Install rcx
2. Install roundsync
3. No thumbnails in roundsync but thumbnails in rcx

I have not yet uninstalled rcx to confirm the bug, but since there is no opened issue on thumbnails I suppose that this is the only difference.

Did you enable thumbnails in roundsync?

@newhinton yes I did, there is only a white square showing after some computation.

I uninstalled rcx and reinstalled roundsync but the thumbnails are still not showing... Perhaps some files were not purged right, or I have a broader issue. Do you have some pointers to where I should look please?

It has nothing to do with the old rcx app. Apps cannot influence each other in this way. My current assumption is that the foreground service providing thumbnails is not properly instantiated.

I confirm the same behavior: App won't show thumbnails when configured to do so. Also, it could be useful to have larger thumbnails.

I can also confirm this. The old RCX app still shows them for me. The least the developer could do is provide us ANY sort of update regarding either a workaround or if it's even being looked into/worked on. Keeping people in the dark isn't a good thing. ANY sort of update of the text/response type would be appreciated by many and is better than no update at all.

If I had to guess I'd say it's not being considered as a priority or looked into at all. Because this issue dates back to at least October 2023. There have been a few app updates and releases since then and still in July 2024 thumbnails aren't working. Says a lot about the devs priorities and care factor on something that's a basic feature.

But if anyone wants a completely different solution. Use material files app, in that app add the rclone remote as an external storage device and then use material files to browse around inside the rclone remote. Thumbnails are working with this method. But it's really a simple function that should be working or at least prioritised with Round Shit...I meant Sync. My bad.

Looking forward to reading the defensive response the dev may feel like he'll need to respond with. Instead of just taking the criticism which by the way is warranted in this instance considering its been 9 months and still has buggy/blank thumbnails.
