[BUG]: Quick Toggle Radius setting not being applied to quick toggle expansion buttons in Gnome 48

Open who-is-matt opened this issue 8 months ago • 10 comments

Describe the bug The "Quick Toggle Radius" setting previously applied to entire quick toggle buttons in the Gnome quick settings menu, but in Gnome 48 the radius is being applied to the left side of the button but not the right "expansion arrow" part of the button (when it is present).

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Change the Quick Toggle Radius setting in the Popup Menus section of Open Bar.
  2. Open the Gnome quick settings menu to view the quick toggle buttons.

Relevant Specs:

  • Open Bar version: 43
  • Gnome version: 48
  • OS/Distribution: Fedora Linux 42 (Workstation Edition)
  • Other installed extensions if interference is expected [Optional]: Issue persists when all other extensions are disabled

yes, very sad GNOME broke it in this update (I was literally holding onto 47.5 for a month, didnt know this was a thing), hope it is still customizable and can be fixed with OpenBar (I like sharp corners)

Hello,

Looks like something changed in latest Gnome update. I will look into it.

Thank you for reporting!

my issue is a bit different but might still be related

to be fair I can't say for sure it is caused by this extension since it isn't fixed by disabling both of the extensions I have that affect quick settings, but it seems the most plausible

Ive also had this before, iirc different shell themes break it. So I leave it at Adwaita and customize with OpenBar

you're right my issue was caused by the material shell theme installed by this extension, removing the shell theme and re-generating it made it work again.

Yeah, I was having the same issue at first due to the Custom Accent Colors extension which applies its own theme. So various themes apparently need to be updated for the new version GNOME.

But the issue I posted exists even when using default Adwaita, with all other shell extensions disabled.

Thanks for the updates guys! Yes, themes and extensions can break it, if not up to date, since Gnome has updated some properties around the Quick Settings recently.

Matt is right, I was able to reproduce the original issue when I updated the Gnome version in my VM.

I will get it fixed and update here (soonish).

Any updates? Have we found out what exactly is breaking and why?

I seem to be having the same issue, and want to fix it.

The issue occurs in Fedora but not in Ubuntu so need to dig into it. What OS / Desktop Environment and Gnome version are you on?

I'm on Debian GNU/Linux 13 (trixie), Linux 6.12.48+deb13-amd64

gnome-shell --version = GNOME Shell 48.4

What versions do we know are affected?
