Strange why does it want root rights?

Hi, "./configure" works like I have made the experience only if I use a sudo beforehand. Why is that so? Where do you want to write the file? After my "./configure" followed by make and make check there were a lot of characters in the terminal but not really what happened? Everything as in the original form.

How can I proceed under macOS?
