Missing layer/LLDP/model info with Dell OS10 switches
I have some Dell S5232F-ON and S3048-ON switches (the latter being used for OOB management interfaces) running OS 10.5. There are several issues with the way they show up in Netdisco - though I am not sure to what degree the issues are linked.
Incorrect layer info Netdisco reports only seeing Layer 4,7 rather than the expected 1,2,3,4,7. I suspect that this is because the devices report sysServices .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.7.0 = INTEGER: 72 I have raised a support query with Dell about this, but it would be useful if there was some way to overide this in Netdisco. I have a feeling this may be the root cause of all the other issues:
Incorrect LLDP neighbour discovery from Extreme switch One of the S3048 switches links into the existing management network via an Extreme XOS22.2.1.5 switch. LLDP is enabled everywhere.
For the Extreme switch, the command line shows the Dell as an LLDP neighbour, and the monitoring platform Observium also shows the LLDP neighbour information correctly. Netdisco however just lists 'possible uplink' for the relevant port on the extreme; it detects a couple of the downstream devices, but not the dell switch that is directly connected.
**Incorrect LLDP neighbour information for connected hosts ** The hosts connected to the Dell S5232F switches have LLDP enabled via lldpad. Observium shows the LLDP info correctly, as does the switch CLI. Netdisco reports a 'neighbour inaccessible' icon for some of them ( eg 89e:54bd:b755:: - Interface 6 as ens3f0) and nothing for some of the others.
No autodiscovery None of the Dell switches were picked up by autodiscovery - they had to be manually discovered.
Incorrect model info Netdisco lists the model for the S5232 as ".11000.5000.100.2.1.20" and for the S3048 as ".11000.5000.100.2.1.4"
Netdisco version is 2.46.1 SNMPinfo version is 3.70
this sounds very familiar to netdisco/snmp-info#340
we have been looking into this but have yet to come up with an elegant solution. please bear with us.
Oof, that looks extremely complicated. Please let me know if you need any logs from me.

As of Dell OS10.5 it looks like the switches now report as layer 2,3 devices
You could probably close this issue as it looks like the solution for Dell devices is to update the OS.
Allowing ND to override layers would be very useful but is a very different issue!
Thanks
