Adding support for Mellanox switches device
Is it possible to add support for Mellanox switches device?
Here is the General info screen
Hi, Any new?
without the process detailed here: https://github.com/netdisco/snmp-info/wiki/Simulating-Agents#get-snmp-datadump better melanox support will most likely not be coming soon. we rly need to the data dumps detailed there to provide better support.
Hi, I have upload an snmprec file to Add support for Mellanox #311
the good news is that i was able to load up the snmprec file in my test setup. the bad news is that even after registering on the mellanox portal i was not able to download the required mibs. https://support.mellanox.com/s/downloads-center & other links to their mibs are a dead end for me.
to be clear, these are the ones i'm talking about:
the link at the bottom of that screenshot goes to https://support.mellanox.com/ which gives me a
i also tried the link in #311 ( https://community.mellanox.com/s/article/getting-started-with-snmp-mibs-for-mellanox-switches ) but still couldn't download the mibs
i think this is as far as i can go without getting those mibs. can you download them & email 'em to nick.nauwelaerts at aquafin.be ?
thx
Hi, any new?
thx for that, i just committed this to netdisco-mibs.
there are a few more pull & change requests i'd like to merge over the coming days. then i'll create a new release.
this does not mean snmp::info will suddenly support your devices, but with the snmprec & mibs we can start working on adding a mellanox class. now if only there were more hours in a day....
Thank you very much for your effort..

Hello Nick.
Sorry for bothering, Is there any new?
Hi, Can anyone help with this please???

Hi,
Can you please outline needed steps to perform, to make netdisco support Mellanox devices?
Thank you!
Hi inphobia,
Can you please replay?
to add support for a specific device class we need::
- the mibs for the device. i forgot when i added them, but the latest release ( https://github.com/netdisco/netdisco-mibs/releases/tag/4.020 ) should have them.
- access to a device or snmprec dump of the device ( https://github.com/netdisco/snmp-info/wiki/Simulating-Agents#31-snmpsim--snmprec-version )
- and the hardest, someone with the right combination of spare time & some basic perl knowhow. ( https://metacpan.org/pod/SNMP::Info#Data-Structures-required-in-new-Subclass )
we would love to add support, but at least for me there are only so many hours in a day. if you want to give it a try we will surely support you via irc ( #netdisco@libera ) or email. keep in mind that all of us use irc proxies so it could take several hours or days before we reply there but we will see your messages and will reply if you remain online.
my experience is that supporting the basics (interface info & such) is straightforward most of the time. so, if @SharonYeuda or @susanin-ivan would like to give it a try we will do our best to support you any way we can.
Hi @inphobia !
Thank you for this information, I'll give it a try
Hi susanin-ivan,
