App not recognized as music app on Android 13

Been using the app happily for years, but I recently got a new phone and on it the app appears not to be recognized as a music app, meaning it won't show the music widget controls on the lock screen, making it harder to control. The currently playing track is also no longer shown on the always on display like it used to be on my old phone (Android 8). I noticed the app hasn't been updated since 2020, perhaps it's not fully compatible with newer Android versions?
