Voice acting

Just a little idea I had this afternoon: I could record the messages transmitted from the colonies in my home studio (and, of course, make them sound like they're being sent via radio). I know it's just a little jam project, but for me it's a matter of less than an hour to record and edit a page of text. I happen to have all the equipment, some acting experience and a decent pronunciation (although a native speaker might notice I'm German). First we have to agree on the final version of the text, of course, which might still take a little while. But if nobody disagrees explicitly, I'll just go ahead… then you can still disagree by not putting it into the game if you don't like it.

No, I already thought that everything is begging for some voice-acted radio transmissions. It would be funny if at least one of them had a thick Bavarian accent [in English, as much as that would be possible].

I can also do a decent English voice; American would probably a stretch for me. But future mining colonies are surely internationally diverse ;-)

Perhaps @meriland wants to speak some lines; she seems to have the required equipment too.

I do have recording equipment but it's not set up for constant use. Also, the background may be fairly noisy with all the computer fans running. I guess we could just try it out.

Of course we should start with just some very basic lines to get a feel for the whole thing, and re-record some or all the lines once the text is more set in stone.

I'd also love it if the Aliens tried to communicate with us in their Alien language.

Regarding Aliens: First they'd just be speaking gibberish, with gibberish subtitles with alien symbols. But gradually (after a few transmissions) the universal subtitle translator can kick in, and eventually we may have the aliens being translated to the Universal Language (English) by the Startrek-like translator (or a Babel fish).

BTW, it's no longer "just a jam project", we can put as much time, löve and passion into it as we want ;-)
