New Mutations

Hi guys, I am wondering how to propose new mutations in resistance genes which were reported in the last year, but are not yet included in the database ? Is it possible to add a custom user database meanwhile ? Is there a central email to collect suggestions for database updates ?

Thanks for your kind words.

To suggest new mutations and/or genes please email us at [email protected]. We ask that you include the mutation, reference accession, resistances conferred, and at least one citation to make our curators lives a bit easier.

It is possible to add genes/mutations to the database yourself, but it's not really something we support. I'm aware of one group doing it. The file formats are fairly simple, but they interact in not always obvious ways and error messages are sometimes cryptic. See the documentation on file formats for more information (https://github.com/ncbi/amr/wiki/AMRFinderPlus-database#file-formats).

We'll discuss if there's a way to make the mutation addition process easier.
