<!DOCTYPE html> causes failure where as <!DOCTYPE> works

While playing with the "getting started" demo causes things to fail while <!DOCTYPE> works fine. It might be useful to note this somewhere, maybe in the "getting started" guide. This occurred for me in both chrome and firefox.
