Allow hiding of chat history

Skype allows you to show chat logs from certain time periods, 24 hours, 7 days, etc. It would be great if you could show all, Or just a few. Also, Why is there a limitation on how long the chats will be held? Skype does not do this to my knowledge, I like perm chat histories.
