This should fix https://github.com/nativescript-community/ui-mapbox/issues/59 I'm still in the process of writing an example for it.

Hi @vhdirk, this looks really great and I'm looking forward to using this change in a project of mine. Is there any help I can give to get this ready for merge?

As far as implementation goes it should be ready. I've checked the java SDK numerous times and everything seems as it should be, but it just won't load any data from URL. Neither from a web URL or from assets. I'd be very grateful if another set of eyes could take a look since I have gotten nowhere at all.
