Fonts aren't loaded automatically for graphical windows

For all my efforts, I can't seem to get my-set-default-font to actually set the default font when I start a new frame, with emacsd as a daemon (started by systemd) and emacsclient in graphical frames spawned by xmonad.

Calling my-set-default-font manually, after making the frame, does seem to work however. So the bug is related to "it's not being called when I make my first graphical frame" rather than "it doesn't work at all".
