Make it easier to find help/tutorials on sheets/morphisms

Open bblfish opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

Hi, I have been following the Prof Macauley lectures on Groups in order to better understand examples in Category Theory where morphisms of groups play an important role (see Twitter Thread).

I was really excited by the third diagram on the front page of group-explorer web site which states:

Homomorphisms: Create sheets to see relationships among groups, or have Group Explorer create them for you

It is not clear to me how to get this to work though. I tried to play around with it and read the documentation but without success. Has that been implemented?

You're right that this was not easy to find in the manual! I had to dig a little bit myself. The relevant page of the manual is here: https://nathancarter.github.io/group-explorer/help/rf-um-sheetwindow/

I'm going to change the title of this thread to reflect the fact that we should make this element of the software more obvious to get help on. Thanks for asking!

Thanks, that was helpful. I got it to work: Screen Shot 2019-12-16 at 15 47 06 Perhaps adding an image like this would be helpful so that people can see what they should expect. A link from the front page picture would be helpful.

Btw. that worked on Chrome and Safari.

But I could not get the lines to appear on Firefox 71.0 (64-bit) on Mac OS Catalina 10.15.1.

Thanks for finding this. It's fixed on the platforms I have access to -- Linux/Win 10/Mojave/IOS Chrome/Firefox/Safari (I haven't moved to Catalina yet). Let me know if you have any more trouble with it.
