API documentation

I am too blind to find the api documentation. I would like to query the API using python to get all problems (or at least the amount of problems). I would like to integrate the number in a push notification for IOS devices for its badge.

can someone point me to the docs or help with a few lines of code?

There is no such API yet. But you can query the livestatus API to get what you want:)
