Could not make binaries for gfx900

Open Tmkrth opened this issue 3 years ago • 4 comments

Hello!

When running nanominer 3.3.2 I receive an error: "Could not make binaries for gfx900." This is on Arch Linux with amdgpu driver with a Vega 64. I tried running with amdgpu-pro driver (heading the executable with "progl"), but it shows the same error.

Adding the user to video and render group does not help. Running as root does not help.

Same machine also has a windows OS, there it works. What am I missing?

I'm suffering from the same problem. piglit and other OpenCL tests that I can find seem to work right so I'm not sure what's going on.

Hello, I have tested this some more with another Linux distribution, Ubuntu 20.04. With this one, nanominer does not recognize the Vega 64 card although it is correctly listed in lspci, "no devices found".

Then I settled back to Arch and tried nanominer versions down to 1.13 with no succes, same "could not make binaries for gfx900" error in every version.

Same problem with Radeon Pro WX 8200, which is almost the same card.

So I assume AMD GCN 5.0 cannot and could not be used with nanominer under Linux.

I have the same problem with Ubuntu 20.04, amdgpu-pro-21.10-1247438 and nanominer v3.3.5, "Could not make binaries for gfx900.".
