[FEATURE REQUEST] Popup Mini-Player for Quick Playback from File Explorer (Like Musicolet)
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. When I tap a music file from a file explorer, Namida opens the full app interface, which can feel slow or disruptive if I just want to quickly play a track. This is especially noticeable when browsing files and wanting instant playback without navigating through the full player UI.
Describe the solution you'd like I’d love to see Namida implement a popup (mini-player) mode that appears when opening a music file externally (e.g., from a file manager), just like Musicolet does.
When a user taps a music file: Instead of launching the full app, a small floating popup player appears. It shows basic controls and tapping it expands it into the full player. This would make quick listening more seamless and reduce the need to load the entire app just to play one file.
Describe alternatives you've considered I could open the file directly in Namida’s main player, but that means leaving the file explorer and launching the full app — which is slow & disruptive. While functional, it lacks the speed and convenience of a lightweight popup for quick listening.
Additional context This popup behavior is one of the standout features of Musicolet, and many users (including myself) miss it when switching to Namida. It’s especially useful for:
-
Trying out tracks quickly.
-
Playing a single file without cluttering your current playlist or wiping your queue.
I’ve attached a screenshot (below) showing Musicolet’s popup player in action for reference.
Apps
Musicolet – Implements this feature perfectly.
cool but no plans to support such functionality, since namida is not native android app and it won't be very feasible to do so
