More picky pirates

Open bobbens opened this issue 2 years ago • 4 comments

Was some discussion on discord, but it may be a good idea to try to streamline the player experience a bit more in the early game by making pirates a bit more picky about their targets. Some potential ideas:

  • Pirates should prefer richer ships (pick less on poor llamas and such if possible - probably have wealth influence their targets)
  • Give more chances to bribe for poor ships / new players instead of just bombarding with mace rockets and wrecking them

I am actually working on this a bit, but slowly. If you're prioritising, then hopefully if you put this on the back burner I'll get it worked on.

Great! If you need any tips please ask :)

Fixed some major bugs that mad pirates ignore safe lanes + spobs + jumps more often than not. Should be much more consistent now.

I think that helps, at least pirates mostly keep away from jump points and somewhat avoid safe lanes. I still get maced to death a lot but mostly outside of safe lanes. With my Quicksilver and afterburners I can get away often. I guess one idea would be to have the pirates prioritize based on current cargo value, if they don't already do that. That is at least something that makes sense within the game world and should also steer them towards larger trading vessels.
