Overlay map should be scaled so it doesn't overlap UI
It's especially confusing where it overlaps the radar, but it's not ideal to overlap other UI elements either. Maybe the target info area would have to be moved so it isn't above the bottom UI stuff.
What opacity are you using? I think the default was changed after it was implemented, so you may have a lighter version of it, messing up the visibility. You can modify this in options -> video.
Other than that, it is somewhat by design as if it doesn't overlap, it is pretty unusable at the minimum resolution. That said, maybe it would be worth having it be smaller and more centered at higher resolutions. I assume you are running at a fairly high resolution?
I had the opacity on the default, 30%. Turning it up might make it easier to see planets and jump points when they overlap other parts of the UI, but it doesn't help with the confusion when objects overlap the radar.
I have a 1920x1080 monitor, which is pretty typical these days. Testing in windowed mode, it seems the UI scales with the window size, so the fraction of the screen that's between the top and bottom UI is relatively constant. I think I'd want the overlay to avoid overlapping even at really low resolutions. It would help to move the date and system indicators at the top so they don't extend so far down and the target info so it doesn't extend so far up. There seems to be room for it in the bottom left or right corner regardless of aspect ratio and resolution.
