Make homepage more useful after an election has finished

Open zarino opened this issue 9 years ago • 3 comments

In the short term after an election, people want to use the site for two things:

  • What's the summary? Who do I have to look forward to as a government for the next 4 years? Was it a close race?
  • What happened in my local area? Did my preferred representative win?

In addition to this, in the months/years after an election, specialists will be using the site to look up how past elections were fought and run, what the candidates did, and who won.

Right now the default YNMP hompage does very little help you with either of these use cases.

Not quite the same structure as the elections YNMP handles, but here's how the New York Times displays the results of the US Primaries:

@mhl @struan @tmtmtmtm – I've put together a page description diagram for how the pre-election homepage currently looks, and how the post-election homepage could potentially look:

Would love your comments. Also, do you think anything might be missing?
