Disable candidate save button on first click

Some editors seem to be double clicking the save button when editing candidates, e.g.

A simple bit of javascript that locks the submit button (for a short time?) after the first click should stop this.

Do we know why they are clicking it twice?

Eg: is the creating/saving of candidates slower than expected, and without any feedback, so people think their first click didn't work?
