User issue: inputting signature

I tried to find guidance on your help routine about how to add my signature to a composed letter on your website proforma, but without success. Indeed, it would be helpful if you were to add a ? to the red note that appears when checking the letter, with instructions as to how to do it (i.e. other than just typing it in)? I have a photo image jpg of my signature, but could not copy it in. Please can you provide guidance or at least clarification?

As a side-note, I have more than once attempted to send a message without putting my name in the right place. Maybe a separate box for the 'signature' would be more intuitive.
