Explain motion text can be found in debate records when linking from page on individual divisions
It appears a reader/user on a page on an individual division (example) has not realised that they can find the full text of a motion via the link to the debate.
This is understandable and the link descriptions could be improved to explain motion text can be found in debate records when linking from page on individual divisions
The text currently used is:
(a) Want to understand more about this vote? Read the debate that it was part of.
and
(b) show full debate
A note could be added following link (a)
Want to understand more about this vote? Read the debate that it was part of (the full motion text can be found within the debate record).
Or alternatively the link text could be improved:
Want to understand more about this vote? Read the full motion text and the debate preceding the vote
While I think this would be a general improvement I do think this is a case of the user/correspondent not knowing what they want / are asking for. Do they really want the motion text and result eg.
That the original words stand part of the Question. The House divided: Ayes 260, Noes 310. (From the above example)
rather than the interpreted:
A majority of MPs voted in favour of the sale of England's public forest estate.
?
More links to PublicWhip (#1123) might help those seeking to drill down to the details too.
I'm only slightly in-favour of making this change. I can't imagine it helping many users.
On a page for a single vote the text "show this vote in context" could be used rather than "show full debate".
[The show this vote in context phrasing is used elsewhere on TheyWorkForyou (example)]

I value your emails re MP’s votes on motions. Where they vote on amendments, is it possible to include links to the original motions as it is difficult to trace what they have been voting on.
