[User suggestion] EDMs not working - swap to parliament site
We currently get EDMs from http://www.edms.org.uk/mps/25633 fr example, but this appears not to be updating and this is leading to people emailing user support telling us the data is wrong.
It looks like the parliament site is up to date (http://www.parliament.uk/edm/2017-19/6217/ruth--george for example) so we could swap to using this instead!
http://www.parliament.uk/business/publications/business-papers/commons/early-day-motions/edms-by-member/
These URLs involve the PIMS ID of each MP, so we'd need to store that somewhere (I thought we already did, but can't see it), and then a URL like http://www.parliament.uk/business/publications/business-papers/commons/early-day-motions/edm-member-detail/?member=3572 appears to work without having to know the session years.
A user has pointed out that the EDM link on https://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/25920/gagan_mohindra/south_west_hertfordshire goes to http://www.edms.org.uk/mps/25920, currently displaying the message:
"This website has stopped receiving new data as of November 2018. This is due to the new government EDM portal re-design which scrapped the XML data feed which I was using to import data."
The message links to https://edm.parliament.uk/ so I suppose an enterprising user can still find what they need, with another click.
