Option to backup all settings

Open chibidaru opened this issue 7 years ago • 3 comments

Please add a button to backup and restore all user settings (omnisearch, theme, show/hide furigana, etc). I reflash my phone often and it always takes forever to reset all me Aedict settings. Please!

Or can you just let me know which files to backup before I reflash?

I'm sorry about the lack of support - I'm completely occupied by my job and kids :)

Regarding the files: Aedict uses the standard Android SharedPreferences mechanism which saves the settings as XML files into /data/data/sk.baka.aedict3/shared_prefs. Please try to back up the contents of that folder and then restore it on reflash. However, I personally never tried that so I have no idea whether it will actually work or not. I'd suggest to restore that folder after Aedict3 is installed into your phone via Google Play (so that the /data/data/sk.baka.aedict3 folder is created by Android), but before it is actually run for the first time.

Please let me know if this works for you.

I will investigate the possibility to let Google save the app settings in some standard way along the settings of all other apps.
