Adding glissando notation options
Your idea
In this issue, I will try to describe which glissando notation options I (and not only I, I think) would like to see in Musescore.
- A glissando from note to rest, ending with a cue-sized note in parentheses.
Currently, in Musescore, it is impossible to make a glissando end with a note in parentheses without changing the note-value from which this glissando is drawn. I propose to implement this feature, which will allow you to save the duration of the initial note of the glissando and at the same time specify the final pitch of the glissando.
- A glissando from note to rest, ending with an approximate pitch.
In this case, nothing can be done in Musescore at all, since the program requires that the glissando necessarily reach some note, and not an empty (approximate) pitch.
It should be noted that if the last pitch sound falls on a rest (and not before), then in this case there should be an arrowhead at the end of the glissando line.
- Glissando from rest / bar-line with approximate pitch to note.
It is important to keep in mind that with this variant of the glissando designation, the note-values above the staff must be indicated, so as not to confuse the glissando with a short slide. The note-values can be indicated either by a cue-sized note with a line (recommended for a simpler composition of durations), or by notes in parentheses (recommended for a more complex composition of durations). All this should be indicated automatically.
- Glissando with starting and ending approximate pitches.
In this option, only the rests and glissandos are visible. Glissando durations should also be indicated by the note-values above the staff.
- Curved glissando.
This is a difficult option of the notation (its implementation in Musescore will be especially difficult), but it is especially relevant for harp notation. We are talking about the non-straightness of the glissando performance, which varies in pitch relative to the curvature of the line. It is also important to understand that the line traces the approximate course of the glissando.
Some modern guides suggest using a polyline (not an undulating one) for this option. Personally, I don't care which line will be chosen in the end.
I also want to note that the user should be able to vertically adjust the approximate beginning / end of the glissando line, whether it is straight or curved (and even transfer it to another staff, if we are talking, for example, about a harp).
- The designation of glissando durations.
We are talking about indicating the duration of the glissando in those places where the duration of the note from which this glissando comes has ended. I partially explained this in issue #22347, but here I will try to describe it in more detail. This is especially important because at the moment this notation option cannot be applied automatically in Musescore. And if the glissando goes beyond the note that has run out of duration (that is, for a rest), then it will end at this rest.
For such cases, the notation of the following option should be applied: along the glissando line, the stems of the note-values (except minims and semibreves) should be indicated, and minims and semibreves should be placed outside the staff (that is, above the staff) and indicated in parentheses.
Do not forget about the curved glissando. The note-values should also be indicated there.
Problem to be solved
The above notation options are relevant for modern composers (especially for those who love jazz). Instead of looking for and trying workarounds for displaying this kind of notation, you can simply implement it, and users would not have to manually poke around and come up with all sorts of knowhow (which is time-consuming and tedious).

Additional context
According to points 3 and 4: the note-values can be indicated not from the left edge of the bracket, but in the middle between the brackets (as in tuplets).
