Yes, this used to work in MuseScore 4.1.1

Setting scale to 1.4 corrects icons size.

Yes, can reproduce on Windows too. As I see, it was broken in 4.2.0

@bkunda @Eism I think it could be in 4.3, if it's easy to fix (but I'll leave it in 4.4 for now)

On macOS they do indeed appear a little on the small side.

I'd vote for a default scaling in the order of 1.4 (or 1.45, if that indeed is achievable).

Will need to check the same on WIN though.
