[playback issue] hearing decrescendos where not written in

Open Vykoiazon opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

Describe the bug The horn playback decreases in power if there is a lower dynamic ahead even when there is no decrescendo line.

To Reproduce

  1. put notes in a row
  2. put a higher dynamic at the start
  3. put a lower dynamic at the end
  4. press play and hear the strength and timbre change when it should stay the same until reaching the next dynamic

Expected behavior stays at the current dynamic until reaching the next one

Hmm. Apart from the nice chords I rather hear the notes getting louder as they get higher, which I believe would resemble how it sounds when played by real instruments.

But in the second half of the recording, the timbre and volume changes before it reaches the mf dynamic (it sounds different from the sustained forte recording)

This looks very similar to #13902, which has been marked as fixed. So maybe that was not entirely fixed...

On the other hand, I seem unable to reproduce this on macOS with the latest everything. So either it is a Windows only issue (maybe the fix was somehow not included in the Windows version) or Muse Hub should have an update for you...

I can confirm this issue

The issue still exists on the latest version of MuseScore 4.2.0 and MuseSounds. The system is running macOS 14.

After experimenting a bit using some instruments, I've found that this issue only occurs when there is a rest (that is, any place where a note isn't being actively played) anywhere in between two dynamics. Otherwise this issue simply does not occur for any instrument. Other observations include:

  • Percussion and string sections don't seem to be affected at all
  • The issue is most severe on brass instruments and solo strings
  • Woodwinds are affected, however less mildly as they only transition towards the end of the section in between

This is a serious playback issue and I really hope for this issue to be solved.
