[Musesounds issue] flute playback in wrong octave, marcato playback unclear

Open Vykoiazon opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

Describe the bug Audio mockup for musesound flute can playback in the wrong octave with marcato accents at forte.

To Reproduce

  1. assign a staff to the musesound flute audio
  2. add notes and give them forte dynamic and marcato accents
  3. press play and hear it sounds like the pitches are being overblown an octave

Expected behavior The pitch should sound like the octave written.

Platform information windows

Additional context I only noticed this problem on flute but it could be possible multiple instruments might be affected.

In general musesounds marcato playback is kind of mushy compared to regular accents which is unexpected when marcato should be more articulated and seperated than regular accents.

For brass, the regular accents sound articulated but when it changes to marcato, the attacks become unclear.

Sometimes it's a duodecim instead of an octave. I think this sound is probably partly intentional to create the marcato effect, but especially for short notes, the "overtone" becomes dominant over the actual note.

Also, sometimes the overtone is not played at the correct moment; it follows after the start of the real note.

I might add something I've just noticed regarding the flute sound and marcato+staccato articulations (they play back much softer than they should):

@davidwhearn I'm wondering whether this could be addressed together with the other issues described above?
