[MU4 Issue] CTD when moving panels onto second screen

Open panthen opened this issue 3 years ago • 2 comments

Describe the bug CTD when moving 'palette', 'instruments', & 'properties' panels onto a second monitor. (Plus note input toolbar issue with second screen)

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Click on 'palette' header and drag to second screen
  2. CTD

Expected behavior Panels to be draggable to second screen.

Platform information

  • OS: Windows

Additional context On one occasion I first undocked the panel on the main screen before moving it onto the second screen; this worked and did not result in a CTD (panel scaling was slightly off, though). I tried to record this behavior and now only experience a CTD:

Moving the note input toolbar does not result in a CTD, but the toolbar does not function (it was draggable post move in the recording, but this doesn't always happen) and the scaling is off (related to #9505?). When restarting Musescore, the toolbar appears on the second screen scaled correctly and fully functional.

Undocking the panel on the main screen and then moving it across did work at first, but now results in the same behavior:

On macOS, no crash, but strange behaviour too: panels already jump to the second screen even if I'm still hundreds of pixels away from the edge of the first screen. And they don't jump back to the first screen until you've moved the mouse hundreds of pixels from the edge.

I believe this is related to #9893 as when I set the second display to 100% scaling the crash didn't happen - panel sizing was off, though On a related note it is quite difficult to replace the panels in the dock in their default position after moving them. Edit: #9568 also seems to be related except, for me, moving the panels results in a ctd and moving the note toolbar stops it from functioning - OS is different, of course.

As noted above this is scaling dependent. I haven't reproduced a crash. I get the over-extended panel with properties but not the play panel.

@panthen I'm curious if you could update us on the behavior with latest version. Does it still crash? Does the play panel still act up?
