Some rendering is done twice

This is a self-reminder to investigate further. Some code related to rendering when an exercise is sent is being executed twice, I believe, though there might be a reason I'm missing there.

I stumbled across this when integrating flow - it happens without flow, as well - so I'll add more precisions to this issue as soon as I have them.
