[Feature] Add “Scroll to Top” Button for Enhanced Navigation Experience
Current Behavior:
There is no scroll-to-top functionality implemented on the site. Users have to manually scroll all the way back to the top, which can be inconvenient—especially on long pages. The page lacks a floating button or navigation aid that improves accessibility and user convenience.
Feature Requirements:
A small, circular button (with ↑ icon or SVG) positioned in the bottom-right corner. Smooth scroll animation when clicked. Add hover effect for interactivity.
Why It Works:
Improves user experience, especially on long pages (e.g., GitHub contribution section, footer). Makes navigation faster and more intuitive on both desktop and mobile devices. Adds a touch of professionalism and polish to the overall UI.
Hi @prushti1521,
I’m a GSSoC'25 contributor and would like to work on this enhancement for the scroll-to-top functionality (Issue #389). It aligns well with my skill set, and I’m confident I can deliver a clean, responsive, and accessible implementation with smooth scrolling and an interactive UI.
Kindly assign this issue to me. Looking forward to contributing!
Thanks, Vasu Gupta
Hi! @prushti1521
I would love to work on implementing this scroll-to-top feature. I am Aviral Saxena from IIT Bhilai CSE'27 and a GSSoC'25 contributor so would like to work on this issue, In addition of a floating scroll-to-top button (with smooth scroll and hover effects) will definitely enhance accessibility and improve user experience, especially for long pages like the GitHub contribution section.
Could you please assign me this issue? I’ll make sure to follow best practices and keep the UI consistent with the existing design.
Thanks! 😊
