Mullvad UI Hides / Closes with mouse movement on MacOS Sonoma - Full Screen Only(v2023.6)

Open BEaXt7f97 opened this issue 1 year ago • 6 comments

Is it a bug?

  • [X] I know this is an issue with the app, and contacting Mullvad support is not relevant.

I have checked if others have reported this already

  • [X] I have checked the issue tracker to see if others have reported similar issues.

Current Behavior

Macbook Pro M3 Pro 16" Sonoma 14.2.1 (23C71) - Mullvad version 2023.6, fully updated

I force quit Mullvad, then re-open and for about 30-seconds I can use it in the Menu Bar, then once I click it and move my mouse just 1 pixel, it hides, and makes Mullvad UI unusable.

This bug was apparently fixed in 2023.3 but that seems to not be the case.

As pointed out by dasasd122311 below, this bug is when the browser is in full-screen, when minimized, there is no disruption to the toolbar app.

Expected Behavior

UI for Mullvad hides, the entire menu bar goes black and hides all other apps.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Hover over "Mullvad" in the Menu Bar.
  2. Click on it.
  3. Move the mouse.
  4. The UI disappears.

I remember that this problem occurs when you use the other application in fullscreen. Is that not your case?

Nope, on a fresh reboot it happens

Ahh yes you're right, I've just re-read your comment, once in full-screen it's unstable, when not in full screen, you can use it.

Hi, thanks for reporting. I believe this is a regression in either Electron or macOS. We'll soon upgrade Electron, hopefully that resolves this bug.

How many years do you think it may take to resolve this frustrating issue? /s

@BEaXt7f97 We released a beta a few weeks ago that you can try out to see if it's fixed. We have received mixed responses where some say it has been fixed but some still experience it.
