Make Mullvad Browser installable on Windows

Open ruihildt opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Like Tor Browser, Mullvad Browser is contained in a folder, in order to try and minimize disk leaks and which is portable to some degree (so you can keep it on a USB stick and use it on different Windows computers for example).

This has unwanted side-effects:

  • Can't place the installer in Program Files without triggering permission errors (#28 )
  • There's no clean uninstall, with automatic shortcut deletion (#32)
  • It's not possible to set the browser as default (or hard?) (#42 )

Since we probably don't have the same write to disk avoidance at all cost that Tor Browser has, it should be fine to have an installer.

Is this in the works?

This is in the work. We hoped to have it for Mullvad Browser 13.0, but it has been pushed back.

This is fixed by the 13.5 release.
