Makefile to install the project

To add your project in a distribution, it would be easier if the project had a Makefile taking care of installing everything properly. As examples, you can check gpaste and gnome-pomodoro.

Sorry, but i don't get it. To install this extension one can copy all files to share/gnome-shell/extensions/pidgin@muffinmad either in ~/.local/ or /usr/.

@muffinmad For a packager, it is simpler to rely on the default make install, than to look at what is there and hard code the cp commands. It is also simpler with respect to changes you might do in your package, e.g., adding and removing files.
