To be honest I don't really see the added value of the model creator section. The original article is eh, "sparse" at best, and doesn't really explain anything about mu-cl-resources. There's some screenshots without code samples and the promise of an eventually functional tool, which doesn't exist yet...

Adding the link to mu-project definitely makes sense though

About json over js, it's true that it's more correct, but json is actually extremely annoying for documentation since it doesn't allow comments, and as you can see in the screenshot, things like ellipses get marked as red, where they're clearly just there for brevity:
