`xattr` does not sufficiently enable the use of the MacOS application
Specs:
- Apple M3 Pro
- macOS Sequoia Version 15.2
Repro:
- Download
- Unzip
- Move Onyx.app to /Applications/
- Open Terminal
- Run `xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Onyx.app
- Attempt to open Onyx.app → "Finder does not have permission to open (null)"
I followed a recommendation at macrumors forum that worked.
codesign --remove-signature /Applications/Onyx.app
codesign --force --deep --sign - /Applications/Onyx.app
You're a legend! I just discovered Onyx, was very excited to convert some files, only to run into this exact issue. Your resolution worked perfectly. Thanks for reporting it.
Thank you! I was worried that I was going to have to lug my giant Windows box around with me whenever I wanted to take my rhythm game stuff somewhere.
Just chiming in to say this also worked with M2 Studio on MacOS Tahoe 26.1
Thanks!
thanks man
