they didn't even update it in Arch. why?

This issue is to track any further changes or problems with the release. The update will happen after some time or after a point release.

I don't know, it usually takes some time. The pacman developers are not the same people as the package maintainers from what I know.

ArchLinux switched to git version of pacman due to some issues, see the commits here https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/pacman/-/commits/main. Should we wait for next point release of pacman?
