I cannot reproduce. I logged in as admin, went to metadata editor, and created a new entity with one column for the ID. Package was left null. I clicked 'save'...

I suppose this is in mref dialogue. Is this the 'old' or 'new' forms? If in old forms then this bug can be closed as wontfix.
