False alerts on the website monitor daily

Open dcpenteado opened this issue 5 months ago • 2 comments

I monitor around 10 websites, and every day I receive alerts saying that some of the sites are down. I immediately access the site, and it’s up. I check the server logs, and there are no errors or outages. The next minute, I receive an alert saying the site is back online.

I’ve tested using other monitoring tools, and none of them trigger alerts — only Tianji does. This happens with several of my websites and systems, on different servers. In other words, it marks them as down and then back online the next minute, even though the site never actually went offline.

Tianji is the simplest end-to-end request solution. It will immediately raise an alarm for relatively unstable websites.

Of course, it can be overly sensitive in some situations.

If you believe this is normal, you can enable the retry feature. This will ensure that the alarm is only raised if there are consecutive request failures, reducing the risk of request issues caused by network fluctuations.
